Okay, I know a lot of men think crying is for pansies....fuck you... it is a natural emotion/reaction. This thread is for you to list what songs makes you want to cry/causes you to cry and why.... FDor me, right now, it is "Iron and Wine - Upwards Over the Mountain....
Here's the story: I have been having rough relations with my Family (parents) for like 4 years now. I have said things/done things that I didn't mean/shouldn't have done. This song pretty much just summarizes how I feel. I have also been fighting alcoholism for the last year. I have just recently admitted to myself that I am an alchololic, but I cannot quit (I have tried) and I am too ashamed to check myself into a support group. I usually drink from a pint to a fifth of Vodka a night (and this is everyday). The slide guitar part just fits in with how I feel on this subject.
Hard to explain, but anyways....list some songs and give some explanations why...
This is a therapy thread, lol

hmm...i must admit (and it is not out of any attempt to act manly) that no song has ever put me to tears, but i would have to say that Opeth's "Patterns in the Ivy II" and REM's "Nightswimming" are pleasantly depressing.
Patterns reminds me of a best friend that i lost because we started to get intimate, unknowing that her best friend had a minor obession over me. i tried to keep it as friends afterwards but it all fell to hell.
nightswimming reminds me of highschool when friends and i would visit this girl rachel at the hippy commune she lives in. we would all bring instruments, food, and extra clothes and play music in the moonlight and swim in the pond. just enjoyable times.
DD, i know you are damned to dial-up hell, but that Opeth song is a godsend to anyone feeling down, so if you get the chance you should check it out.
i know books and movies aren't mentioned in the title, but i will admit that i completely lost it at the end of "Where the Red Fern Grows" and at the end of "What Dreams May Come"

when listening to music, i've only ever cried out of happiness, because a certain song sounds so beautiful to me. when i'm really depressed, instead of crying i feel like my stomach has been replaced by a vacuum.

and crying isn't for pansies. having the confidence and self assurance to be able to let your vulnerabilities and weaknesses and emotions show is a lot stronger than just puttin on a 'tuff cunt' face

amen to that man,....I just wrote a song ( a complete rip of to Iron and Wines - Upward over the mountain.... it;s called "Such Sweet Goodbyes" and it was written kind of as a suicide note, like what I would say if i ever killed myself. It deals with my alcoholism and what I feel about the family....but, anyways, here are the lyrics........
God, forgive me…I sold the last of my kidneys Mother, you know you tried to save me from this disease Mother, I needed one last taste from the vial Mother, when you think of me, please try to smile I may be gone, but those memories stretch for a mile So, say your prayers, and include mine for awhile
Mother, I’d love to think I did one thing correctly Mother, I hope my life wasn’t just a waste of a memory Mother, remember when I was just a cute little baby Mother, sons grow up fast, not your fault, you couldn’t save me I may be gone, but those memories stretch for a mile, So, say your prayers and include mine for awhile
Mother, remember when we sat on the porch swing Mother, I should have taken all the advice that you gave me
Mother, I’ve packed my bags and now I’m ready Mother, it’s sad to know that no one will ever miss me Mother, it’s time to leave, so I’ll be on my way Mother there’s nothing left for me here, to make me stay I may be gone, but those memories stretch for a mile So, say your prayers and include mine for awhile
