TV on the Radio
I haven't loved anyone this much since atdi. since atdi i've pretty much dabbled in this and that, moved on from genre to genre, but after "Return to Cookie Mountain" i'm listening to their previous stuff with an equal love. and it feels good! its been a while since i've been able to rely on an artist for good music. like with atdi, i'd buy an ablum KNOWING it would satisfy me. and i've found the same again.
in conclusion: yay

the only band that has taken hold of me as of late is joy division. i can listen through their whole discography in a days time and not think twice about it.
i have found that i don't have the passion for listening to music that i used to. i think it has to do with the lesser exposure to music now that i don't have the cash to buy new releases. in part i am happy though, because i feel like whatever i lost has been replaced by a greater passion to play and write music.

hmm this is a good question but i'm also kind of confused, if by favorite band since ATD-I after they broke up (2000ish i guess) i'll pick from the bands that came onto the scene after that... so i'd have to go with my morning jacket. they are the best american band making music right now and i ant wait to see them in november.

i basically don't have a favourite band after atdi. but then again, i got into atdi AFTER they split up anyway. i've sortof just been looking around at as much music as i can, to find what i really liked. atdi was really really really strongly aligned to my tastes, but nothing as yet has come quite close. so yeah just looking around at everything last week it was the small amount of dub & reggae i could get my hands on am i rambling? ramble on (hit it jimmy)

interpol are a realy good band but they're not AMAZING like a lot of people (hipsters) make them out to be. Antics was kind of shitty.

so how about some explanations here? "they are awesome" doesn't explain why they are awesome. snap to it and let me know what i should be looking for.

so how about some explanations here? "they are awesome" doesn't explain why they are awesome. snap to it and let me know what i should be looking for. well if you haven't already got it, go and buy/download/steal their debut album, turn on the bright lights... it's been hailed as one of the best debut records to come out in the past twenty years. now as to what to look for, it's hard to say, it's not amazing musicianship (however the drum shows off his skills quite well on bright lights), and it's definitely not lyrics... paul banks writes some of the worst lyrics i've ever heard, but to me the thing that is appealing about interpol is how they threw it back to the days of old, they take a lot of influence from bands like joy division and the cure but then they add their own twist to it. they have some really dark songs, "hands away", but they dont sound like their copying joy divison or anything.... i dont know if that made any sense but that's my thought.
