para, if it is of any assistance, i ALWAYS find that if i download music, i tend to do so in large quantities. the result is that i have so much new material that i listen through an album once or twice then discard it to listen to more new material. i never appreciate an album or come to comprehend it, because i switch off and move to the next without batting an eye.
in conclusion, buy your music so that it is more tangible (figuratively and literally). you will have more incentive to get the most out of it. and besides, we are all music junkies and materialists, so nothing says elitist like a fucking huge cd/vinyl collection : ]
what was the last album you BOUGHT?

But at the same it, it could be it's not worth enjoying. music has been in a slump lately....

if you run into a brick wall on the new releases, you can ALWAYS find something from the past that you completely overlooked. plus, you can lean in towards purchasing albums again by finding the middle ground of pawn shops, thrift stores, and used cd bins.
seriously, check your local public library to see if they have a weekly book sale where they might sell donated cds/vinyl. i've found some gems here in town, including:
the beatles - abbey road (vinyl) dredg - catch without arms (cd) lauryn hill - miseducation of lauryn hill (cd) elvis costello - my aim is true (vinyl) frank sanatra - where are you? (vinyl) many more that i'm drawing blanks on
kind of ironic, as only three of the mentioned albums are classics, but you get my point.

para, para, para... shame on you for talking about being a metalhead after the mention of korn.
i am not bashing korn, and im DEFINITELY no bashing metal, but i'll be damned if numetal=metalheadedness.
don't get me wrong, i know you listen to some decent metal, but korn does not contribute to one's metallity.

I actually haven't heard a lot of music lately that's worth buying. Plus the prices they charge for some albums are a little outrageous (like paying $23.99 for the new Sean Lennon last year. fuck.) But then again, I even feel guilty about not going out to get the new Mars Volta, getting it on Itunes instead.
If you feel like you have to buy some music, go to a record store and look for some good used vinyl for like 6 bucks. I have a bunch of old Beatles, Bowie and a couple of Smashing Pumpkins albums hanging on the wall, waiting for me to buy a turntable needle. (then you own it, and can rip/DL anything on it guilt-free. I'm a bastard, I know).
