hey everyone. last night, i finished up a rough edit of my first attempt at writing some acid jazz. thought i'd share it with you, as free music is good music. let me know what you think, and please offer any criticism, especially regarding mixing/production. here is the link: www.mediafire.com/?blgdxjnsi14i played all bass, piano, wurly, and organ sections on a korg triton le through digital performer on a macbook at the music school library. i programmed the drums directly into digital performer, and i recorded the guitar at my house and mixed it into performer at the library the next day.

who are some of the jazz artist that you listen too? i always turn on the am radio to listen to some crazy jazz, but they never tell me who the artists are.

thanks for the compliments fellas; they are definitely appreciated. but don't be too kind, i'm looking for some heavy criticism : ]
and hotpants, my jazz favs are probably django reinhardt, dave brubeck quartet, and wes montgomery. if you are looking for some more modern stuff that is easy to get into, check out soulive, liquid soul, and medeski, martin, and wood.
i would have to say that this track is most inspired by st. germain's "tourist" album, so that one is worth looking into.

damn zach. i really enjoyed this. very well written, seriously, possibly your best yet. the guitar bit might need some mild effect tho. it was great, but the sound was kinda bland. it didn't match with all the other instruments for some reason. but, A+ brother. by the way, you're on last.fm

thank you, good sir. and i completely agree about the guitar tone. i really need to throw some reverb in on that track. it sticks out like a soar thumb, because everything else was midi controlled.
unfortunately, i'm still playing through my crate gfx-20 that i bought about 4 years ago. it is a great beginners amp, and i am hardly beyond novice yet, but i have grown tired of the horrid tone of this shit box.

kyle, i don't think the world is ready for kittenhole just yet. i would hate to be responsible for riots, death, and famine.
i am listening to that song right now, and i've gotta say that i fucking love the funk chords under the intro. i don't know if i can play like that anymore.

i've never had a last.fm page, but i couldn't imagine kittenhole taking off into mainstream rock stardom.
i would laugh my ass off if it did though.

back in high school, two friends and i sat down with the intention of writing and recording a song in under 5 minutes. the result was an obnoxious track that took mother prussia by storm, aptly titled barn_1. it has since been lost to the ages, never to surface again. here's a link: www.mediafire.com/?4tr1nlit9d2
