What city would win between Chicago(birthplace of techno, Smashing Pumpkins, Tortoise...) and Seattle (Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana...) Personally, i think Seattle would totally destroy everything. What so you think?

No contest Seattle would win, although The Smashing Pumpkins are one of my all time faves... Detroit v Chicago would be a more even match... Detroit has Kiss, Eminem, ICP, Motown, Chicago had Chess Records with Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, and Cheap Trick, Disturbed and, of course, Chicago. That would be a great match up. Of course, Boston has to get in on that brawl, with Aerosmith, The Pixies...

if there was a battle of the bands, JIMI HENDRIX would be the judge.
it depends how you look at it. both cities contributed to the american music scene. some more rock, while others more blues or whatever....personally, L.A. had a lot of influence...punk, metal, hip-hop, everything. from the red hot chili peppers to N.W.A....rage against the machine to system of a down. i dig the phuck outta hendrix and nirvana tho,....ok enough...answer the phucking question ass.hole....seattle
jimi hendrix nirvana fecal matter alice in chains soundgarden pearl jam(are they from wash.?)
AS FOR AMERICA L.A. had a great punk scene in late '70's, early '80's

Yeah, I forgot to mention L.A., that's what happens when you get medicated. NY definitely has a great scene, if another good band never came out of NY again, they could live alone off of their CBGB, Bowery district, and Village legacies alone. Plus, you can't leave other countries out, Britan and Germany have had some excellent bands.

This is becoming World War of the Bands...
Hey man Tortoise is an instrumental post jazz or whatever band. It's not like Mogwai or Explosions in the sky, it's quite special. It sounds a bit like Trans Am (if you know them). Some good songs to download are TNT, Everglade and Seneca. But I'm warning you, it's very low-key and maybe you won't like them at first, but i think they're great.
