I've seen parts of those performances... the bassist adds a lot to their sound. their new album got 5 stars from Rolling Stone... I haven't heard it yet, but I'm curious why David Fricke would give Elephant 5 stars and Kid A (the 21st century Dark Side of the Moon, in my opinion) only 4... I usually trust Fricke, so their must be a good reason or mercury in his hairspray, no offense to Jack and Meg.

unfortunately i was only able to see the first two night, but there was not a bassist...i don't know, i didn't see the thursday or friday performance...on the "seven nation army" performance, jack did have a pedal to make his guitar sound a lot like a bass, but there was no actual bassist...

I think they used a bassist on the album, that's what the reviews have been saying. too bad the Pixies won't reunite ("Let's see... um... if anyone in my family ever needs a kidney transplant, I'll think about it [reuniting]" - Frank Black on the Pixies), they were the original neo-garage band, and mostly responsible for the rock revolution of the 90's and every backwards-hat wearing nu-metal freak who claims Nirvana as an influence. The Stripes remind me a lot of the Pixies, that fire in music of something new rooted in something old (Like Cream and Led Zeppelin resurrecting the Blues)

(couldn't be bothered to log in) Nah it definitely wasn't a bassist on the album it was a special guitar fed through and amp or something. It wasn't even a bass and it was definitely played by Monsieur White. They are an absolutely insane live band, if they come anywhere near you get your arse to that gig. + Meg is hot I don't like the pixies as much as most people. well i've heard all of Surfer Rosa and Come On pilgrim and I think they're a bit rubbish. Monkey Gone to heaven and debaser are classics though. (I haven't got Doolittle though) Davdi W

There is no bass on the album. Jack uses a DigiTech Whammy for the bass sounds.
The Friday night performance was totally awesome! It was the best tv performance I have EVER seen.
