i am what you say a fisherman when i think of the death penalty. i'm anti-abortion but pro-death penalty....so i throw them back in the water if they're too small...only to reel 'em in when they get bigger....

I'm anti-death penalty, mainly because it costs more to execute a criminal than to have them serve a life sentance after all the appeals, cost of materials, etc., and America is the only western industrialized nation to still hold on to the death penalty. Personally, if, god forbid, a family member or loved one of mine was murdered, I'd take much more pleasure in the murder getting love Oz style than being quickly killed by a lethal injection (California's option, which is painless, and why do they have to pay for new needles for every execution anyway? I doubt HIV infection is going to get a dead prisoner) or electric chair.

Yeah, a bullet would be a cheap alternative to changing needles for lethal injection... I just think that solitary confinement + bread + water + multivitamin pill + bedpan the prisoner must clean would make life hell for the convict, instead of getting the easy way out by a quick death.
