how many of you hadn't heard of at the drive-in before they released one-armed scissor as a single? i will admit that i was a late comer...anyone else? for those of you who may have been loyal followers, how did you first come across the group?

Late comer too.. I first heard them about the same time they broke up. Heard roc and was blown away and that was when I got hooked. Couldnt listen to anything but atdi for months. Couldnt get the songs out of my head! Luckily the addiction lessened .

wow...glad to see i'm not the only one who came across them in the later stages. i saw the video for one-armed scissor shortly after the release of RoC which struck my curiosity, so i then purchased RoC. that soon followed with the purchase of Vaya...followed by In/Casino/Out...and so forth.

i'll admit, i'm a late ass myself...i saw an article of atd-i in SPIN or ROLLING STONE....they all had jack hammers and were "destroying" this room. i tripped on ceddy's MC5 afro....didn't catch the name so i forgot about it.....then i saw this video. the music was awesome, i mean this blew me away. i told my lady, this is the kind of sound i've been searching for. i remember recognizing cedric and omar, and said to myself, that's the band.....found out the name of band and album...and immediatley went to TOWER RECORDS and bought ROC and ACROBATIC TENEMENT....all influenced by this one song. at first, acrobatic tenement kinda dissapointed me, for the fact of it quality. but now i wouldn't have it any other way....from there, i became a fan

Yeah, I heard One Armed Scissor on the radio and thought it was the greatest thing ever. Only radio djs don't like to do their jobs, so they didn't say anything about the song and I had to wait until a month later before I heard it again and figured out who it was.

i first came across atdi in 2001 but they were still together and it was a time when i was into blink 182
...my brother bought roc...i liked it but i didnt find it special
but then my brothers friend lent us a tape of Vaya and after a few listens atdi had shunted blink 182 out of my musical taste. so i can say atdi is my saviour of my musical taste

I remember seeing One Armed Scissor on VH1 I do believe...but I only had that one song - didn't go any further into them. Then this past december, I decided to find out who the hell they really are and I have fallen in love. ATD-I explains who I am without having to explain.

Looks like Ill have to koin the group and say, yes, I only heard about them after OAS. Its hard to hear about bands like that over here though, the music seen for that sort of music is crappy. I first saw the video on a TV show called "No Disco" and thought, yes, this is the sort of stuff I need to listen to more, it was just pure genius. I forget the name and then only heard the song again when someone downloaded it in college. Got ROC that Xmas and built my collection up from there. Like most of you I thought at older ATDI stuff wasnt as good at first but now I love it all. ;D

Good question
For me it was like this:
1)Heard Rolodex Propaganda on the radio, loved it 2)Bought Relationship of Command, loved it 3)Systematically searched out the rest.

Just before the One Armed Sissor single came out everywhere. I heard about how good ROC was...and read an artcile in Spin or something about the album. Then I heard One Armed Sissor and liked it. So I went out and bought ROC on Vinyl, and fell in love.
My ROC LP doesnt have Catacombs on it....did all the first print copies not include it...?

i first heard pattern against user on the radio, and then at my friends house (he thought they were a joke band because of the whole "follow meeeee" bit... what a dick). i was into like trance and shit back then (2000 i think) so i didnt really think much of it. and then in like 2002/2003 my tastes had changed a lot any my friend leigh was hell into ATDI at the time and he showed me them. i heard cosmonaut, one armed scissor and i was basically hooked from there on in. i bought RoC, then AT, EGO, i/C/O, and Vaya. i think thats the order anyway. and one day i luckily stumbled across some guy that was uploading their entire catalogue so i grabbed HP and AFC! and then of course TSINO and that was basically it for their songs. castro i feel the same way sometimes... so normally i just stop listening to them for like a month or two and then stick one of their records on again and BAM almost back to completely discovering them again atdi really is the greatest band in my life

This topic appears old as fook. Still relevent though. I heard arc arsenal on a bmx video one of my mates made, then i downloaded a couple of songs from epitonic.com this was probably only about 2 years ago I think.
