remember me? how y'all doing peeps? new sparta release - very exciting! is it as good as TMV cokes? (i prefer sparta to TMV, they remind me more of ATD-I)

(i prefer sparta to TMV, they remind me more of ATD-I) GOOD TO BE BACK it cant really be compared to tmv because their sounds are so different, but this is definately a huge step forward for sparta. on this release, they've seemed to take more time to work on each track. for example, on "from now to never," it's eight and half minutes of grat music. it starts off as a classic sparta rocker but around three minutes, it calms down and a piano comes in faintly with jim quietly singing. then towards the end of the song a girl comes in talking in some foreign language (french i think) and finally, an acoustic guitar can be heard. all in all, this CD is fucking awesome and whoever wants can hit me up! |

:o you havent given the album a thorough listen yet, para?! faves guns of memorial park hiss the villian travel by bloodline from now to never this whole album is a masterpiece....sparta has by far has finally reached the masterful musical ingenious that is TMV.....this album was very impressive....and beautiful, and agressive and all those emotions in a blender....i know some of you are gonna react by me comparing them to TMV...i know the sound is different...but they've finally reached their potential...i personally thought wiretap scars was mediocre(although an awesome name for an album)and TMV - de-loused in the comatorium blew them out of the water, maybe even embarrasing them. but the've come back with a vengeancesparta are finally evolving from their post-atdi reputation.... |

I'm not sure if I'd say it's a huge progression...I haven't listened to it enough to make a final judgement, it's grown on me each time I've listened, but the hooks don't seem as immediately catchy.
And there's not as much of a punch as you'd think in the songs, which is what's always been the biggest dissapointment for me with Sparta, since they're the thundering rhythm section of ATDi.

the thing about PORCELAIN that stands out the most to me is tony's drumming... it's simply amazing and its really really agreesive. especially in songs like "end moraine," im not a drummer, but that shit sounds pretty hard to play.

Man, so I've gotten the new Sparta CD finally. It's good. I'm still getting a feel for some of the songs but I love the first few tracks.
And Tony is an AWESOME drummer. He does have some hard stuff to play.
